Prevalence of Sacroiliac Joint Pain in Postpartum Women in Different Hospitals of Lahore: A Cross Sectional Study

SIJ is a di-arthrodial joint. SIJ contains a cartilaginous facade, fibrous joint capsule which is filled with liquid called synovial fluid, and a complicated arrangement of ligamentous associations. Sacroiliac, sacrotuberous, and sacrospinous tendons are essential stabilizers of the SIJ. SIJ is a source of buttock, leg pain, chronic low back pain, pregnancy related pain, postpartum pain, and chronic groin pain in athletes. Objective: To determine the prevalence of SIJ pain in 20 to 40-years old postpartum women. Methodology: Results: The age of participants was 20-40 years. The results of study have shown that the prevalence of SIJ pain in postpartum women is 66.4% has positive FABER test and 33.6% has negative FABER test. This was a Cross Sectional Study. Sample Techniqu was Non-Probability convenient sampling technique. Period was six months. Total 116 women included in this study. Data was collected through the self-administrated questionnaire. FABER test was also performed to evaluate the SIJ pain. Conclusions: The result of this examination distinguished a high prevalence of SIJ in postpartum women in Lahore city. Pain was associated with duration, course and sensation. It can have effected their daily routine due to their negligence. It was important to understand the pain and treat SIJ disorder because if it was not treated in time it may become chronic after pregnancy.
