The Efforts of Imam Al-Darimi in Explaining the Rare Hadith words Through His Book "Al-Sunan"

Abstract

The scholars of Hadith have made tremendous efforts in the field of Hadith sciences, paying exceptional attention to its details to facilitate the understanding of the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The sciences of Hadith are like an endless sea, and among the sciences that scholars have focused on is the science of rare Hadith words 'Al ghareeb', where they have explained the unusual words that are seldom used in people's language and authored specialized books on this subject.

Additionally, a number of scholars who compiled the Hadiths of the Prophet (peace be upon him) have also paid attention to this matter, often elucidating some rare words after mentioning the Hadith to enhance understanding. Among these trustworthy scholars is Imam Abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn Abdul Rahman Al-Darimi, who, in his book "Al-Sunan," identified some rare words and referred to the speech of ancient Arabs. His words are characterized by precision and mastery.

Therefore, I aimed to compile his scattered comments on rare Hadith words in "Al-Sunan" to make it easier to refer to and to encourage the exploration of other scattered Hadith sciences in the works of these scholars. I have gathered nearly forty rare words from his book "Al-Sunan" and concluded the research by presenting the results and recommendations.
