Abstract

Holy Quran was revealed 14 hundred years ago and it is the only book which is clean from all sorts of interpolation and distortion. Allah Almighty Himself has taken responsibility of its protection.

Not only the text of Quran but also its sciences/doctrines have passed from generation to generation without any change and alteration. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) taught these doctrines to his companions and so on. In every era the scholars have wrote books on the sciences of Holy Quran.

There are two types of Quranic Knowledge/science.

1. The knowledge of interpretation of the Holy Quran.
2. The knowledge of terminology of the Holy Quran.

First one is necessary to learn the teachings of Islam and consists of “Ilm uttafseer”, “ilm ulahkam”, “ilmunnasikh wal mansookh” and “ilmul mohkim wal mutshabihat” etc.  And the second one is necessary to learn how to recite the Holy Quran and consists of “ilm adil aaya”, “ilmurrasm”, “ilmuzzabt”, “ilmutajweed”, “ilmulqirat” and “ilmulwaqf walibtada” etc. And these two are interconnected to each other as well.
