This research explores Sorayya Khan’s novel Noor through the lens of Freudian psychoanalysis, focusing on the concept of ‘anthropomorphism’ as it applies to the character Noor. The current study analyses how the character of Noor serves as an anthropomorphic representation of the Freudian unconscious mind, manifesting repressed traumatic experiences for characters like Ali and Sajida. The study also examines Noor’s relationships with other characters in the novel and contrasts these dynamics with Freud’s theories on the unconscious. By employing textual analysis, the paper aims to demonstrate how Noor embodies the complexities of the unconscious, shedding light on the characters’ hidden traumas. This research integrates on Freudian psychoanalysis and anthropomorphism to substantiate its claims about Noor’s role as a symbolic conduit for repressed memories and desires in Khan’s narrative.
