Abstract

Blasphemy and freedom of expression are two topics that have been contentious throughout history and across various societies. Balancing these two subjects is a complex and challenging task. This article aims to provide an analytical study of these topics to explore the reasons for the conflict between them and potential solutions.

In Islam, freedom of expression holds a specific place. Throughout Islamic history, thousands of books and articles have been published that critique Islam and its fundamental beliefs. Muslims generally accept scholarly debate as a part of Islam. However, when the right to freedom of expression is misused to insult the Quran or the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), it becomes a matter of concern for Muslims. This misuse of freedom of expression can lead to significant distress within the Muslim community.
