Copyright & Licensing Policy

Copyright Ownership
All published works of UOL Publisher, including the Journal of Law, Justice and Human Rights, continue to be the intellectual property of the respective authors. The author retains copyright to the work produced without limitations.

UOL Publisher does not own the content. Instead of payment, the journal is granted a non-exclusive license to publish, archive, index, and disseminate the authors’ work across both print and electronic formats.

Each published article includes a clear statement: © [Year] the Author(s). This ensures author rights are explicitly stated and preserved.

Licensing Terms
All published materials are available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

This license permits:

  • Any type of use, distribution, or reproduction in any form, including media.
  • Commercial utilisation as well as modification of content.
  • Acknowledgement of the original author(s) and source is mandatory.

For transparency purposes, each article’s PDF and the journal’s website show the license badge and terms.

Author Rights
Authors are entitled to:

  • Share their work via repositories, personal websites, or other public platforms.
  • Reuse their material in future publications, presentations, or compilations.
  • Retain full moral and intellectual rights over their content.

There is no embargo for self-archiving, and no fees are charged for exercising these rights.

Journal and Platform Rights
Authors, upon submitting a manuscript to UOL Publisher, grant the journal a non-exclusive right to:

  • Publish the article both in print and online.
  • Index the article in academic and other bibliographic databases.
  • Promote the article through various digital and academic platforms.

UOL Publisher imposes no restrictions contrary to the CC BY 4.0 license.

Use of Third-Party Content
To ensure compliance with intellectual property policies, authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary copyright clearance for any images, charts, tables, or datasets used in their manuscripts. Proper attribution must accompany all reused content, and its use must comply with the journal’s open access license.

Policy Updates
UOL Publisher retains the right to change this policy as standards of publishing, copyright legislation, and open access practices evolve. All amendments will be unambiguously published on the journal’s webpage.
