Post Publication and Retraction Appeal Policy
- Introduction
The LBS Journal of Marketing Analytics (LBS JOMA) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. This policy outlines procedures for handling post-publication discussions, corrections, retractions, and appeals.
- Post-Publication Corrections
- Minor Corrections
- Authors may request minor corrections (e.g., typographical errors, formatting issues) by emailing the editorial office.
- Minor corrections are approved by the Editor-in-Chief and updated in the online version with a correction note.
- Major Corrections (Errata)
- If errors impact data interpretation, methodology, or conclusions, a formal correction notice (Erratum) will be issued.
- The revised article will be marked with a date-stamped update and a statement of changes.
- Retraction Policy
A published article may be retracted in cases of:
- Plagiarism or duplicate publication.
- Data fabrication, falsification, or manipulation.
- Ethical violations, such as undisclosed conflicts of interest.
- Serious errors that invalidate conclusions.
Retraction Process
- Investigation – The Editorial Board conducts an inquiry based on evidence.
- Author Response – Authors are given an opportunity to provide explanations.
- Decision Making – The board follows COPE guidelines to decide on retraction.
- Public Notice – Retracted articles remain online with a clear retraction notice, explaining the reason.
- Post-Publication Appeals
Authors may appeal editorial decisions or retractions under the following conditions:
- Appeal Grounds
- Procedural errors in the review or retraction process.
- New evidence contradicting the basis for rejection/retraction.
- Ethical concerns regarding the handling of the decision.
- Appeal Procedure
- Formal Appeal Submission – Authors must submit a detailed written appeal to the Editor-in-Chief within 30 days of the decision.
- Editorial Review – A special committee reviews the case, consulting independent experts if needed.
- Final Decision – The committee issues a binding decision within 60 days.
- Public Disclosure and Transparency
- Any post-publication updates (corrections, errata, or retractions) will be clearly labeled and accessible.
- Retractions will be indexed in major databases and linked to the original article.
